Woodland Restoration...

Woodland Restoration... Enlisting volunteers to help with everything else- tree and plant maintenance, plantings, repairs and beautification projects, etc. These projects help us enhance the park and make it safer and more inviting to park users. We will be pruning, pulling and piling invasive species that are overtaking the woodlands in Grant Park. Wear long pants, layers, and closed-toe shoes or boots. Wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty- we will be up to our elbows in vines and leaves and you will get dirty! Please bring a reusable water bottle. Court-ordered volunteers are permitted to serve. This project is not wheelchair accessible. This activity is labor-intensive, but very rewarding. Community Women’s Kitchen Volunteers... Provide and serve lunch at our community kitchen, where we serve more than 20,000 meals each year to low income and homeless women and children. Mobile Food Distribution...

Mobile Food Distribution... We provides emergency assistance to S.W. Atlanta citizens facing crisis. Volunteers provide much needed resources that allow the agency to complete their mission in a cost efficient and orderly manner.
Volunteers will help with mobile food distribution. Tasks include: setup/breakdown staging area, packing/distributing food, & assisting recipients with packages.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to serve by themselves or at least 5 years old to serve with an adult. The project site is wheelchair accessible. Court ordered volunteers are permitted to serve. Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate, comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Food Pantry Assistance....Help to those in need so they may achieve stability and move toward self-sufficiency. Do you have a passion for helping others? We need your help in our Lakewood food pantry! Volunteers will help sort and process food donations to be distributed to clients. Farmers Market Set Up & Take Down....

Farmers Market Set Up & Take Down.... seeking volunteers to assist with set-up (7 AM - 9 AM) and take-down (1 PM - 2:30 PM) of the markets' booths. Each Sunday, we must load and unload an average of 40 vendors into the park with all of their equipment (tables, chairs, canopies, display materials) and all of their product in addition to the market information booth, community booths, and chef booths. Set up involves bringing equipment from vehicles loaded on carts to vendor spaces, setting up tents and tables, and putting out garbage containers and signs at the market. Take-down involves taking down the information booth set-up, assisting vendors with load out, and clean up of the market space. Requirements: This is physical work and volunteers should be able to push, pull and lift 30-50lbs. Community Blitz....Improve the local and community assets through community services and resolution of blight in inner city neighborhoods. Through our community blitz volunteers will work on community gardens, removing illegally dumped tires, clearing public right of way, resolution of blight, working with youth as role models through service, and working with our senior and does 55 years population to do things such as install rain barrels, assist them with their local gardens, hosting community events like, neighborhood scavenger hunt, Streets Alive, National Night out and community run/walks/marathons. - This Community Service Project is currently available in Atlanta, Georgia and approved for Court Ordered Community Service.
